More transport means it requires more energy in the form of petrol, diesel or electricity.
What role does urbanisation play in this?
Urbanisation increases with development, which increases domestic appliances, heating, lighting
Why is increased wealth an issue?
In emerging economies, like China, this means people buy more appliances and technology which require energy (white goods = washing machines etc)
