Qualifications to become a sales associate (5)
1) 18 years of older
2) high school diploma
3) US SSN
4) honest, truthful, trustworthy, of good character, reputation of fair dealing
5) competent and qualified to make real estate transactions
What must applicants disclose (4)
1) if ever convicted, found guilty, had adjudication witheld, or entered a please of nolo contendere; or if currently under criminal investigation
2) If the applicant has done business under any name of alias (including a maiden name)
3) If disciplinary action has been taken against a licensee to practice a regulated profession
4) If ever denied any license, registration, or certification in any state
Why is a SSN required for the license application?
To determine if an applicant is in compliane with child support obligations
How long is the application valid for?
Two years from the date the application is received by the DBPR
Sales associate education requirements (2)
1) Complete the prelicense course (Course 1)
2) Pass the end-of-course exam)
How many hours is Course I?
63 hours (60 hours of instruction and 3 hours for the final exam)
What is a passing score for the end-of-course exam?
70%
How long does an applicant have to pass the state license exam, after passing Course I?
two years
What happens if an applicant doesn’t pass the state license exam within the prescribed time? (2)
1) course completion expires
2) applicant has to retake Course I
Who is exempt from the prelicense Course I? (3)
1) individuals with a 4-year degree in real estate are exempt from Course I, but still have to pass the license exam
2) Attorneys who are active members of The Florida Bar are exempt from Course I, but still have to pass the license exam
3) License by endorsement (military personnel and spouses), when they hold a valid license in another jurisdiction
What languages is the license exam offered in?
English & Spanish (must request Spanish)

75%
When can a new licensee begin working?
Once the DBPR website indicates that the license is active status under the employing broker or owner developer
Do you have the right to review your exam results and request to reexamine?
Yes
