Q

What is endothermic reactions?

A

-Heating energy is absorbed
from the surrounding
-It is a bond breaking reaction
-The surrounding tempreture decreases

Q

Whats the difference between physical and chemical changes?

A

Physical change:
-The reaction is readily reversible
-The product will have no new chemical properies

Chemical Change:
-The reaction is harder or impossible to bring back
-The chemical change’s product will have different chemical properties
-It is always either an exothermic or endothermic reaction

Q

Explain Colission Theory

A

Successful collisions have enough activation energy to break pre-existing bonds and form new bonds at impact

Q

What does concentration say in Collision Theory??

A

Concentration is the number of particles per space,(almost like density) when there is more particles in an enclosed space the collisons will increase as there are more particles to bump into.Hence the higher the concentration of said substance the more reactive it will be.

Q

What does tempreture say in Collision theory??

A

-Tempreture is related to heat which in turn is just extra energy being released hence heating up a reacting substance gives it more energy to react so it makes the particles collide more often making the reaction happen quickly

Q

What does surface area say to
Collision Theory??

A

-Decreasing particle size increases surface area; more reactant particles are exposed to collide, so the successful collision rate increases. This results in an increased rate of reaction

Q

What does pressure say to Collision Theory??

A

The higher the pressure the smaller the distance between particles hence they can collide more easily

Q

What are Catalysts?

A

catalysts are substances that increase reaction rates by lowering activation energy and remain unchanged at the end of the reaction. They facilitate reactions by increasing the successful collision rate of particles. In the case of gaseous reactants, solid metal catalysts provide a surface for the reaction, with a larger surface area leading to a higher rate of reaction.

Enzymes, as biological catalysts, speed up reactions without undergoing chemical changes. They work best at specific temperature and pH levels, as deviations can lead to denaturation and loss of enzyme function. Maintaining optimal conditions is crucial for enzymes to effectively catalyze reactions.
