Hydrogenation

A

A chemical reaction between H2 and another compound. A catalyst of Pd/C is used.

Q

Hyrdohalogenation

A

A reaction between H-(Br, Cl) and a compound. It forms a carbo-cation and a halogen anion. The halogen anion then inserts itself onto the carbo-cation, forming the new structure.

Hydrobromination and Hydrochlorination are the only reactions that can occur.

Q

Hydration

A

A reaction where water is added across a carbon-carbon double bond. It forms an alcohol by breaking the pi bond and attaching a hydrogen and hydroxyl group to the carbons involved.

Q

Posion Hydrogenation

A

Hydrogenation with Lindars catalyist. Lindars catalyist is Pd, PbR3N. The N has 2 e- on top of it.
