What are the 3 refuges?
A
- Dhamma = The buddha’s teachings. If you need refuge you look to the buddha’s teachings for help
- Sangha = people that have become enlightened. The community that follow the teachings of the buddha.
- Buddha = Siddharta Gautama/ The buddha. He can provide refuge as a role model.

What are the 3 watches of the night?

- He gained knowledge of all his previous lives.
- He understood the
wheel of samsara. - He understood suffering and how to overcome it.

What were the 4 tactics used by mara to distract the buddha?
A
- He sent his daughters to seduce siddharta gautama.
- Sent armies to attack him.
- He offered siddharta control of his kingdom.
- Tried to attack gautama himself.
(None of these tactics worked and siddharta Gautama/ the Buddha reached enlightenment.)

What do anicca, anatta and dukkha mean?
A
- Anicca: Imprmanence; Everything changes and nothing stays the same forever.
- Dukkha: Suffering; Bad things will always happen.
- Anatta: Not-self; We need to change/adapt to our enviroments.

A
1.Suffering is inescapable
(dukkha).

desire (Sumudaya).

not craving (Nirodha).
4.The recipe for achieving
happiness (Magga).
