A
  • On the ground, for 5 minutes after electrical power is supplied to the aircraft or anytime an engine is operating.
  • Stops 5 minutes after the last engine is shut down.

When does the Digital Flight Data Recorder operate?

A

• On the ground, for 5 minutes after electrical power is supplied to the aircraft or anytime an engine is operating
and continuously in flight, whether or not the engines are operating
• Stops 5 minutes after the last engine is shut down

RCDR panel, explain functionality of buttons

A
  1. GND CTL switch (spring-loaded)
    ON: The CVR, DFDR, and QAR (if installed) are on
    The ON light comes on blue
    AUTO: The CVR, DFDR, and QAR (if installed) are on, according to the logic.
    (Refer to 23.30.1).
  2. CVR ERASE pushbutton (if installed)
    Pressed for 2 seconds: This completely erases the tape, if:
    The aircraft is on the ground, and
    The parking brake is on
  3. CVR TEST pushbutton
    Pressed and held: This activates the test, if the CVR is on (the GND CTL pushbutton pressed, or during the first 5 minutes after energization of the aircraft electrical network), and the parking brake is on. Refer to AOM Vol 2 Section 2.114 for
    additional information.
