What is theft?
The taking and carrying away of the personal property of another without the consent of the owner with the intent to permanently deprive the owner.

What qualifies as vehicle theft?
Driving or taking a vehicle of another person without the consent of the owner, intending to permanently or temporarily deprive the owner of title or possession.

What is defrauding an innkeeper?
Obtaining food, fuel, services, or accommodations at a designated facility without paying, with the intent to defraud the proprietor or manager.

Define burglary.
Entering any designated building or structure with the intent to commit theft or any felony.

What is shoplifting?
Entering a commercial establishment with intent to commit larceny while that establishment is open during regular business hours with property value not exceeding $950.

Possession of certain tools intended for breaking and entering into any specified structure for committing a misdemeanor or felony.

What is receiving stolen property?
Knowingly buying, receiving, concealing, or withholding property obtained by theft or extortion, with circumstances indicating knowledge that the property was stolen.

What should officers do during a preliminary investigation?

What constitutes vandalism?
Malicious intent to deface or damage personal or real property not owned by the perpetrator.

What is required for repossession?
The repossessor must gain dominion and control over the goods, with the buyer able to object until control is achieved.
Repossessor can enter public property anytime, private property with permission.
What is battery?
Willful and unlawful use of force or violence on another person.
Generally a misdemeanor unless it involves specified persons or causes serious bodily injury.

Unlawful attempt and present ability to commit violent injury upon another using force of a deadly weapon.

Willfully causing or permitting an elder or dependent adult to suffer unjustifiable physical pain or mental suffering.
