rate of reaction (2) Flashcards
what does the rate of reaction depend on?
the number of collisions between particles, this is called collision frequency
how else can the rate of reaction increase?
by increasing concentration, raising the temp or pressure
what happens when concentration increases?
particles become more crowded. this increases number of collisions
what happens when the temp increases?
particles gain kinetic energy so bump into each other more. This is called the collision success rate
what does increase in pressure cause?
forces particles closer together, increasing rate of reaction
what does the rate of reaction depend on?
collision frequency
what does the steeper the gradient on a graph mean?
the faster the reaction
what is the concentration of solution measured in?
mol/dm3
what does the higher the mol/dm3 mean?
the more concentrated the acid is
what is extrapolation?
making an estimate beyond the range of results
what is interpolation?
making an estimate between results in a range
