Describe Urticaria

A
  • Pruritic, elevated lesions in skin with erythematous base (plasma leakage into tissue)
  • Itchy +++
  • angioedema (deeper tissues affected)

A
  • Erythema multiforme (not itchy, target lesions)
  • Pityriasis rosacea (early lesion)
  • HSP

Management of Urticaria

A
  • REFER IF ANGIOEDEMA OF AIRWAY (manage as anaphylaxis)
  • reassurance
  • remove triggers
  • cool compress
  • antihistamines (promethazine 0.2-0.5mg/kg OR cetirizine 0.2mg/kg)
