The father’s found his wife and son his behavior, difficult and managed by working longer hours
Main symptoms
-Charles was obsessed with sicknesses and called it terrible some kind of disease
-The worst thing he could think of was touching honey
-He washed his hands for three hours at a time, for example, passing the soap from one hand to another after a certain amount of time had passed
-He showed generous slowness, indeed routine such as dressing, which could take up to two hours
-Charles became very distress when Rupert explained that he want that she wanted to do a EEG which would involve putting sticky paste on his car. He stayed up washing all night following the day of the EEG.
-Charles was sad because his sister’s and other children would call him crazy
How was Charles treated?
He was giving a tricyclic antidepressant
What was the tricycle the Charles was given?
Clomipramine
How did the tricycle chloramine help him?
This happened in short term within a month Charles was able to pour and touch, honey
How did Charles relapse?
One year later, he had become tolerant to the drug meaning that he needed an increasing the larger dose to produce the same small effect his symptoms returned, although in a more manageable way
