What are rapids?
A
Fast flowing, turbulent sections of water where the river bed has a relatively steep gradient.

What’s are the characteristics of rapids?
A
- Turbulent flow of water
- White water
- Uneven river bed
- Steep gradient

How are rapids formed?
A
1) Bands of hard rock are hard to erode so they are protruding up on the river bed.
2) Soft rock is more easily eroded so river bed is lowered.
3) Turbulence and white water as river passes over the hard rock.
