Randomisation techniques Flashcards

1
Q

What is simple randomisation?

A

Simple randomisation is where subjects are assigned to treatment or control groups by chance.

This reduces allocation bias and unknown possible factors

Q

What is cluster randomisation

A

When the randomisation is not based on a group of individuals but rather a cluster that pre-exists, e.g. a whole GP practice.

Loss in statistical power and complexity in design and analysis
