How do you start presenting a radiograph?

A

Always radiograph not XR (XR is the modality of imaging but radiograph is the actual image)

  1. “This is an AP and lateral radiograph of e.g. the ankle”
  2. “…of patient X who is a skeletally mature or immature patient”
  3. “Taken on…”

How do you present the findings of a fracture radiograph?

A
  • Type of fracture e.g. oblique, transverse, spiral or comminuted
  • Location and bone e.g. distal femur
  • Translation?
  • Angulation? - varus or valgus
  • Shortening?
