No
What size of iv is preferred?
18 gauge iv or saline lock
Where do you not insert an iv?
distal to a significant wound
What are Fast-1 Flow rates?
30-80 ml by gravity
120 ml/min utilizing pressure infusion
250 ml/min using syringe forced infusion
What is a Fast-1?
A sternal IO
Tranexamic acid (TXA)
helps the body to not break down newly formed clots, administer 1 gm of txa in 100 ml normal saline (or lactated ringers) ASAP BUT NO LATER than 3 hours. should be administered over 10 min by iv infusion
Possible side effects of TXA?
nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, visual disturbance, increase risk of post blood clots, hypotension if given too rapidly as an IV bolus
How do you store TXA
storage temp ranges between 59 and 86 degrees F
