Tranexamic acid (TXA)

A

helps the body to not break down newly formed clots, administer 1 gm of txa in 100 ml normal saline (or lactated ringers) ASAP BUT NO LATER than 3 hours. should be administered over 10 min by iv infusion

A

nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, visual disturbance, increase risk of post blood clots, hypotension if given too rapidly as an IV bolus
