Large creatures have extremely efficent metabolisms, so the colossal squid only burns 45 calories a day and only require 0.061 ibs (1/65 of what humans eat) a single fish would sustain them for nearly 2/3s of a year

How does the colossal squid catch it’s prey?

A

It does not chase down it’s prey. instead since it needs so little food it can wait for food to accidentally come near it and uses hooks on it’s arms and tentacles to ensnare it.

A

Animals found in cold environments will be bigger than those in warmer environments, but this only applies to warm blooded creatures. some ectotherms are larger in colder climates. Even some single cell organisms are larger than normal
