Cunningham technique looks like ballet, the same turned out position of the feet, quick footwork and strong spine, but it also differs.
- Utilise their torso’s, bending sideways, forwards and backwards , and hold balances for long periods of time.
- Frequent changes of direction, and no rhythm from the music to count on.
What is Graham technique?
Graham technique is based on ‘contraction and release’ and uses different parts of the body in opposition to one another to create spirals for dramatic tension.
The basic spiralling position consists of rotating the spine approximately 45* around its vertical axis.
Graham used floor work in order to explore the themes of weight and gravity in new ways.
