What is an ecosystem?
Where biotic and abiotic members form an ecosystem who are all reliant on each other.
What is deforestation?
Where you cut down sections of the rainforest.
What is made from deforestation?
Clothes, Food, Furniture, Energy, Shelter, Palm Oil.
What are the causes of deforestation in Malaysia?
Commercial farming, Road building, Subsistence Farming, Logging, Mineral extracting, Energy development, Population and settlement growth.
What do decomposers do?
They consume dead plants and animals and reduces them to simpler forms of matter.
What are producers?
Plants are called producers because they make their own food, they are at the start of the food chain.
What are consumers?
Animals are called consumers because they eat other plants and animals.
What is interdependence?
When things rely on each other.
Where are the rainforests?
Across the equator.
What is the O horizon made of?
It is formed of decomposing litter, roots, branches, decomposing animals etc
What is the a horizon made of?
Made of humus which is completely decayed.
What are the layers of the rainforest?
The emergent layer, the canopy, the understory, the shrub layer, the forest floor.
What’re sustainable uses of the rainforest?
Agroforestry, eco-tourism, conservation, save the orangutan and debt reduction.
