What does KUB stand for? What is this?

What can a KUB diagnose?
renal coliculi air in abdomen bowel obstruction gallstones trauma to the pelvis
What is an IV urogram?
you put a bunch of contrast medium stuff in the body & see if there is an obstruction in the ureter or something.
When you see the wings of the uterus (broad ligament) what type of colon do you see? Note: it is towards the right side.
ascending colon/cecum
When you see the pubic symphysis which bone will be prominent?
ischium.
When do you know you are looking at the anal canal instead of the rectum?
when you can see the clitoris or the penis…
How do you know if you are looking @ the prostate gland or the bulb of the penis?
if you can see the penis–>you are looking at the bulb of the penis.
If you see a tag after the branching of the external & internal iliacs…what is it?
a femoral vessel–>continuation of the external iliac artery.
Once the horns turn into the seashell what are we seeing?
Horns: ilium Seashell: top: pubis Middle: femur Bottom: ischium
After the seashell explodes: what do we see?
ischium at the bottom
pubis at the top
femur laterally positioned
Once you see the pubic symphysis…what will you still see & what won’t you see?
Will still see: prostate gland
Won’t see: bladder
the seminal glands look like the leaves of the apple. In the CT, what is this apple? Where is the prostate gland?
apple: rectum
more inferior is the prostate gland
When do you see the obturator externus muscle & know hey, that’s not the obturator internus muscle!
Once the femur & ischium split you know.
