colon cancer (ascend) , UC (descend), obstruction, Crohn’s dz (esophagus to lower colon, mostly L), ulcer, diverticulosis, tumor, motility of colon or rectum, blood in stools, diarrhea, constipation
Barium Swallow
narrowing/ irritaion of esophagus**, dysphagia, hiatal hernia, ulcers (ST and esophagus), motility of esophagus/ peristalsis, ST, duodenum, SI, polyps (upper GI), GERD
CT
tumors (best at IDing lymphoma), clots, CVA, GI, lesions, ab abscesses, biliary obstruct, internal bleeding, aortic or cardiac aneurysm, abdominal aortic aneurysm***, spinal disorders, MVA/ trauma, acute symptoms (chest/ LU, ab)
MRI
aneurysms, eye disorders, stroke, MS, spinal cord injuries, tumors, atherosclerotic tissue,, spine, brain, breasts, vessels/ valves of HT/ internal org, tumors, bones & tendons and ligaments, arthritis - pt must be stationary
KD urether BL (KUB)
size, shape, position of urinary organs, KD stones
Ultrasound
GB, KD LV, SP, HT, pancreas, repro organs, arterial blood/ blood vessel - these are the most common
lymph abnormalities, fetal development, muscles, tendons (qualitative damage), fetal development, orthopedics
Arthrography
jt, tendon, cartilage & ligament condition, patient moves
SPECT
extent of brain damage post-stroke, how organs work, blood flows
PET (positron emission tomography)
Dx parkinson’s, epilepsy, mental illness, metabolic, activity of organs, cancer of body, HT attack (ischemic necrotic tissue), neurology, used to measure acu effectiveness on brain
Laparoscopy
fiber optic used to view contents within ab and pelvis
Xray
arthritis, blocked vessels, bone cancer, breast tumors, LU health, GI problems, enlarged HT **, fractures, infections, osteoporosis, tooth decay, foreign objects
