C - Indeterminate risk, benefits may > risk
D - high risk, benefits may > risk
E - C/A in pregnancy or preeclampsia
NR - no ratings
this mostly affect pregnancy

- High potential for abuse
- no medical necessity in U.S. (except LSD for schizo)
- cannot be prescribed
ie: LSD, weed in some states, MDMA, GHB, ecstasy, psilocybin, heroin

A
- high abuse and dependency
- Rx (opioids, barbiturates, amphetamines)
- Narcotics - morphine, oxy, methadone, perocet, dilaudid,
- Stimulants - amphetamine (adderall), methamphetamine (Desoxyn), methylphenidate (Ritalin), cocaine, pentobarbitol, glutethimide

A
- low abuse then I & II, low or moderate dependence
- steroids, analgesics, barbiturates, anti-diarrheal)
- < 15mg hydrocodone or 90mg codeine
ie: Vicodin, Tylenol w codeine, buprenorphine, ketamine, anabolic steroids, etc

A
- low abuse, limited dependence (benzos/benzodiasepines)
- Xanax, Valium, Ativan, etc
- must report if not using as prescribed
- can reduce effect of acupuncture

- low abuse, limited dependence
- antitussive, ant-diarrheal, analgesic purposes (phenergan with codiene)
- limited quantities of narcotics
