What radiographs are needed for new primary dentition patients if proximal surfaces cannot be probed?
Periapical X-rays (PAs), occlusal views, and/or bitewings (BWs).
What radiographs are needed for new transitional dentition patients based on clinical needs?
Individual radiographic exams, bitewings + panoramic or bitewings + select PAs.
What radiographs are indicated for new permanent dentition patients with no evidence of disease?
Individual exams based on clinical signs and symptoms, including bitewings + panoramic or bitewings + select PAs.
What radiographs are indicated for new edentulous patients?
Based on clinical signs and symptoms.
What is the interval for bitewings in recall patients with clinical caries or increased risk (primary, transitional, permanent dentition)?
Every 6-12 months.
What is the interval for bitewings in recall patients with no clinical caries and low risk (primary, transitional, permanent dentition)?
Every 18-35 months.
What radiographs are recommended for recall adult patients with periodontal disease?
Bitewings (BWs) every 24-36 months, with selected PAs for areas with periodontal disease.
