A
State who you are calling first, then identify yourself

What is the protocol when contacting dispatch?
3 main things
A
- Wait for an opening or break in the radio traffic.
- Call dispatch using the “to-from” method and pre-code request
- Wait for dispatch to acknowledge then give details

What is the code “Utah” protocol?
A
The word “Utah” is used in conjunction with the badge number of an officer. It indicates the officer has been taken hostage.

What are the four common transmission problems?
A
- Covering- more than one radio user transmitting at once
- Over modulation- speaking to close to mic or yelling into the mic
- Open microphone- can be caused by numerous things; transmit button accidentally pushed and left on.
- Feedback- two or more radios are close together and one person tries to transmit

- Name (including middle initial)- last name first, spell phonetically
- Date of birth
