What is physical fitness?
The ability to function effectively throughout the workday, perform usual activities, and still have enough energy left over to to handle extra stresses or emergencies, which may arise
What is anaerobic power?
“Without oxygen.” The ATP system is sustainable for 1-4 seconds and the PC system will power the anaerobic activity from 4 seconds to when the PC system runs out; which is possibly up to 20 seconds in we’ll trained athletes
What is muscular strength?
The greatest amount of forces muscle or muscle group can exert in a single effort
What is muscular endurance?
The ability of a muscle or muscle group to perform repeated movements with a sub-maximal force for extended periods of time
What does ATP stand for?
Adenosine Tri-phosphate
What does PC stand for?
Phosphate Creatine
What is Flexibility?
The ability to move the joints or any group of joints through an entire, normal range of motion
What is body composition?
The percentage of body fat a person has in comparison to his or her total body mass
What are the risk factors for coronary heart disease?
- Elevated Blood Cholesterol Level
- High Blood Pressure
- Cigarette Smoking
- Diabetes

What is cholesterol?
A waxy, fat like substance that is found in all cells of the body.
What is HDL and what does it do?
- High Density Lipoproteins, also known as “good cholesterol.”
- It carries cholesterol from other parts of the body to the liver so it can be removed from the body.
What is LDL and what does it do?
- Low Density Lipoprotein or “bad cholesterol”
- creates a buildup of cholesterol in the arteries which increases the chances of developing heart disease.
What is blood pressure?
The force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps out blood.
Roughly how many deaths are caused by cigarette smoking in the US each year?
About 1 in every 5 deaths is caused by smoking.
What is Atherosclerosis?
A disease in which a fatty substance called plaque builds up in the arteries eventually limiting blood flow to organs and other parts of the body.
