IRMER – Ionising Radiation Medical Exposure regulations (2000) deals with the safe and effective use of ionising radiation when exposing patients.
IRR99 – Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999 are aimed at the protection and health of staff working with ionising radiation.

Operator- The operator is responsible for carrying out the radiation exposure. (radiographer)
Practitioner -The practitioner is the person responsible for justifying the radiation exposure (radiographer)
Referrer- A referrer is the individual that requests the radiation exposure and therefore must provide enough clinical information for the exposure to be justified. (Doctor)
