Q

What is ionisation?

A

Removing an electron from an atom

17
Q

Explain why the binding energy of an inner shell electron is greater than an outer shell electron?

A

The inner shell Electrons are closer to protons which they are attracted to.
Outer shell electrons are further away and therefore less attraction.
This means it takes less energy break off these electrons.
