  • comes off in front of the lateral epicondyle of the humerus
  • SUPINATOR mm, btw heads
  • compression in canal of FROSHE
  • motor nerve
  • “WRIST DROP”

A
  • compression of superficial branch of radial nerve- passes under tendon of BRACHIORADIALIS
  • sensory
  • pain at dorsum of wrist, thumb and web space
  • ## trauma, tight cast, swelling

Pathway of Radial Nerve

A

under clavicle - arm pit - post. arm - lateral arm: branch before SUPINATOR.
Post motor branch- Posterior interosseous nerve; enters Supinator - down lateral radius
Superficial Branch- down posterior forearm to hand

A

Fracture - spiral/radial groove
Dislocation- head of radius, humeroradial or radioulnar jts.
Post surgery complications

Symptoms or Radial Nerve Lesions

A

altered sensation at posterior arm and hand ( digits 1,2,3and lateral 1/2 of 4)
Wrist drop
proximal elbow injury- both sensory and motor affected
distal elbow injury- only sensory OR motor affected
