Radar Flashcards
Describe the VFR arrival procedure for Rotary Wing
Follow one of the VFR routes
Or
Enter the MATZ at 500’AGL calling CU Twr at the MATZ boundary squawk 7030 & are to be at 500’QFE by the IA remaining clear of the climb out and approach lanes of the duty Rwy and 12/30.
Describe the VFR departure procedure for RW
Fly one of the departure routes
Depart at 500’QFE, sq7030 once clear of the ATZ, climb not above 1000’QFE, change to CU App at the MATZ boundary. Remain clear of app/climbout to duty Rwy & 12/30
RW wishing to depart contrary to these procedures is to request a non-standard departure
Describe the RW SID
Once in receipt of takeoff clearance, depart expeditiously without spot turn
Climb on rwy track to 2500’ QFE or as directed
When busy RW may be required to depart from areas other than the runway.
Describe the FW SID
Maintain rwy track in the climb to 2500’QFE
Not to turn before contacting CU app.
Describe the FW VFR Procedure
Unless otherwise directed: Maintain rwy track to minimum 1500'QFE before turning iaw prenoted details, avoiding: CMATZ Pdk local area IF areas
Describe the R PFL procedure
During AFL or RPFL pilot updated bearing and range to CU overhead
Weather limits: green or better, not available when Inst Recoveries.
TS throughout
RPFL minimum range 12nm to allow CoR of 1500’ QFE
If approved, normal height restriction 2500’QFE. Internal liaison with local to reduce height restriction.
Joining clearance passed before 5nm
Only one PFL at a time
Describe the rules for standing agreement coordination for aircraft operating in the IF areas.
Within lateral boundaries, 7060-7067 can be deemed.
Outside the IF areas: 7350-7353
Other controllers may transit above and below A and C and only above B without coordination provided:
1000’ exists above/below IF area
Validated CU squawk or under Culdrose controller
Verified C readout - not 7040-7045
Approach’s responsibility to protect IF traffic & ensure standard separation before handovers.
What are the upper and lower limit of the IF areas?
2500’-5500’ CU QFE.
Base level of C may be lowered to 1500’QFE, when operating below 2500’, aircrew are to remain clear of St Just ATZ.
How many air systems may use each IF area?
A maximum of two air systems in IF Alpha north/south.
A maximum of 3 air systems in Bravo and Charlie with no more than two in one area.
What actions must be taken when feeding an SiA or SRA to Rwy 36?
SRA: Practice not permitted when pdk is open Mandatory 3 degree glidepath Pdk circuit restricted to 500'QFE Both Pdk routes closed
SiA:
Pdk cct restricted to 500’QFE
Both pdk routes closed.
Use of Rwy 36 is to be kept to a minimum.

Corridor between Pz & IoS Sfc-4000’ St Mary’s QNH.
Class G but aircraft are encouraged to call CU App suiting open hours.
What rules apply to Mounts Bay when Rwy 07 is in use?
Area 4 becomes sterile.
Describe NDB to ILS procedure
Own nav for the beacon. How many holds.
CoR of 2500’
Proc. minima and intentions
A/C reports ready for the procedure, controller will either clear or keep in the hold
Inform VCP when beacon outbound
If FW cct closed, RW may still be using cct. RW are to be stilled or restricted not above 100’
Controller consider height restriction if instrument traffic feeding ahead.
To ILS: pass 2000’wind & report localiser est
To NDB: report base turn checks complete
Hand over to PAR for monitor.
What is the height of D001, when is it active & who controls it?
