Aerodrome Flashcards
How many air systems can operate in the visual cct?
By day
By night?
By day:
No restrictions. ADC and DATCO manage the visual circuit.
By night:
3 in each cct
How many air systems may make auto-rotation approaches simultaneously?
One in each circuit
When may circuit heights for helicopters be reduced?
When cloud base falls below 1200’ the circuit height is reduced to 200’ below cloud base to a minimum of 300’agl.
Define Immediate Area and operating heights for FW and RW.
Immediate area is FW protection area with a radius of 2nm
RW air systems will not operate above 500’qfe with the exception of visual circuits and FW will not operate below 1000’QFE.
Any requirement to operate outside these limitations will be subject to ATC approval.
Describe the Falmouth route
All A/c transiting and from Falmouth Bay will exit and enter the IA not above 500’ QFE via Gweek.
Outbound: at Gweek, climb to 1000’QFE and follow the North bank of the river to Rosemillion Head and then change to Culdrose Radar #8
Inbound: At the mouth of the Helford, squawk 7030, change to Tower #1 follow the south bank of the river at 500’QFE and report at Gweek.
OWR: When weather conditions are GRN or worse, air systems are to fly along the river 200’ below cloud base down to a minimum cloud base of 500’
A/c are to have positive clearance to enter the route.
Describe the mounts bay route
All a/c transiting to/from Mounts bay will exit and enter the IA at 500’ QFE via the following points dependent on Culdrose duty rwy:
Rwy 25/30: exit via Loe Bar and enter via Halzephron
Rwy 07/12/18/36: exit via Halzephron and enter via Loe bar.
Outbound: On coasting out, a/c are to squawk 707# (allocated on taxi) change to #8 and May climb, once clear of the IA, not above 1000’QFE in order to satisfy power check requirements.
Inbound: a/c will transit towards the appropriate IA entry point not above 500’ and are to be established on #1 prior to coasting in, squawking 7030.
OWR: When weather conditions are GRN or worse, A/c are to route via the appropriate IA exit and entry point 200’ below cloud base down to a minimum cloud base of 500’
A/C are to have a positive clearance to enter either route.
Describe the Predannack route and the Coastal Route
Predannack route
A/c transiting to and from Predannack will exit and enter the IA not above 500’QFE via Cury on the Predannack route.
Outbound: st Cury,
Describe the Night Flying Routes
With no fixed wing circuits and in order to minimise noise complaints, all routes will be flown at 1000’QFE and OWR will be flown.
When the cloud base is below 1200’ this may be reduced at the discretion of LtCdr F/DLCF.
Which areas are available as sloping ground and how many a/c may use them?
Areas 5 and 7
Max of 2 RW on any sloping ground at a time.
What are the minimum distances from the rwy edge for helicopters to be stilled for FW movements?
Small: hover
Ned/large: on the ground
Small: 150’
Med: 300’
Lg: 600’
What are the rules with regard to Landing left and right of runways 12/30?
“30 Left”:
Left of the runway, no further west than D-site
“12 Right”
Right of the runway no further East than E site
When may RW operate directly to/from Bravo North
829 day & towering takeoff only
“C/s take off/land at your discretion”
Merlins from B south may use B North for dep/arr
At Datco discretion and 829 liaison, visiting A/C hosted by B site NAS may use B North departures IAW the above constraints.
What does Land Threshold and Land Short mean?
Land threshold: first 500’
Land short: first 1500’ (not to be used on 07 or 36 when FW operating to 12/30)
When is a radar release required?
All IFR flights
IFR imposed departures due weather or by Approach
FW departures from the non duty runway
What procedure at 10nm for ILS?
12 lights to red and no vehicles allowed to cross 12 threshold.
