They are herbivores
What is a wild rabbits main diet in the wild?
They mainly graze on grass and other leafy greens
Are wild rabbits diurnal, nocturnal or corpuscular?
Nocturnal, primarily active in late afternoons and sometimes during the night
How long do wild rabbits sleep for?
4 to 8 hours
How do rabbits digest their food?
Their food are tough to digest however they have adapted to digest food with hindgut fermentation
What is hindgut fermentation?
Where hard to digest plant material is broken down in the presence of bacteria while also extracting nutrients from the food
What are different common behaviours rabbits can display?
Hopping, digging, going into hides, self + allogrooming
What does it mean when a rabbit rolls over or lies on its side?
They are relaxed and happy
What does it mean when a rabbit grinds its teeth?
If its heavily grinding their teeth it means they’re in pain however if it is light it means they are happy
What do their ears indicate?
If there eras point forward, they’re curious, straight up mean it is alarmed and trying to listen better, if they’re folded back they are scared
What is myxomatosis?
Highly infectious viral disease which attacks their skin, eyes, genitals, lungs and liver
