What is Malocclusion?
Where the teeth never stop growing and can be extremely painful if they grow long enough and potentially pierce the gums
What is Flystrike?
Flystrike is when there is a build up of faeces so flies will be attracted to it and lay eggs. Within days they will turn into maggots and bore into the skin
What is Conjunctivitis?
Where one or both eyes are red and sore
What are some causes of Conjunctivitis?
A diet high in protein leading to a lot of ammonia to produce in the urine which can irritate the eyes
What is Myxomatosis?
A highly infectious disease (usually fatal) which can cause swelling of the mucous membrane, inflammation and discharge around the eyes
What are Ectoparasites?
Parasites that affect the outside of the body such as ticks, fleas or mites
What are Endoparasites?
Parasites that affect the inside of the body such as worms
What is Urine Scald?
Where the perineal area and hind legs become soiled in urine due to bad husbandry so the skin in that area would become red and sore as urine is an acid
What is Head Tilt (E - Cuniculi) ?
Where the rabbit will tilt its head due to either an ear infection or a neurological disease
What is Ringworm?
A fungal infection
What is Snuffles?
A respiratory tract infection which left untreated could form into pneumonia
What is VHD?
Rabbit Viral Hemorrhagic Disease, fatal in most cases , highly contagious disease caused by a calcivirus
What are Uterine Tumors?
Tumors that form in the uterus that are usually cancerous
What is Gastrointestinal Stasis?
Where there is a decrease in movement of food through the GI Tract which can be caused from a decrease in food intake or dehydration
