Symopivm
Second big course of meal of entertainment. Show people who you surround yourself with. Gives opportunity to have teacher teach. Narrate a dinner party to allow narrator to talk.
Type scene
Author draws from a well known pattern from another historical figure life. By doing this the author connects and compares Jesus to that of another historical figure
Farewell discourse
Well known figure is nearing death, gathers followers, and give them a speech. Contains announcement, self review, exhortations, predictions and warnings, blessings/discourse
Passion narrative
Gospel focuses on Jesus death and suffering. Each gospel makes Jesus deaths central to Gods plan.
Summary
Author use small portion narrative to describe passing of time or occurring events. Provides transitions between larger sections of stories. Communicate what was typical in a person life.
Apocalyptic/prophecy
Consists of Jesus giving a prophetic warning, cosmic image. Prophecy is not foretelling but forthtelling
Meraphor/simile
When a comparison is drawn direct or indirect. Must locate intended point of connection
Narrative irony
When characters and readers have different amounts of information and amount to something ironic wording
Narrative reversal
Something occurs in story that is opposite of what is expected.
Parable
Imaginative story having a beginning, middle, end. Developed from everyday life, related for its teaching value.
4 types
General story- leads to one specific point to learn
Allegory- each character represents something in real world
Riddles- short example that have a deep meaning
Similitude- comparison between two things heavenly and earthly
