A

She needs to make a decision about what to do and be emotionally prepared to abandon old ways and challenge herself. She might need to embrace a more masculine role. This may be where she finds a mentor, and learns who her friends are. Gathering of Weapons - The point of no return is here that forces her forward on her journey. The ante is raised, and she couldn’t go back if she wanted to. Sometimes she’s forced into a new leadership role.

A

Here she celebrates a success on her journey, which often gives her a false sense of security. She might have some atonement with the mother figure in her life with whom she’s been fighting or contending against.

5) Road of Trials / Meeting Ogres & Dragons “The Descent”

A

KEY PART Usually solidifies a strong spiritual or internal arc. She has to face 7 key issues, losing a weapon each time: Fear, Guilt, Shame, Grief, Lies, Illusion, Attachment. This is the midpoint, and there may be a mini-climax where she faces the villain.

6) Death - All is Lost (Apotheosis / Magic Flight)

A

This is her darkest point where she must face the ultimate ordeal on her journey. The villain may return, and she may be betrayed again or trapped. All hope is gone, usually leaving her with only one choice left.

7) Reconnect with the Feminine / Rescue from Without

A

This is where help arrives, the turning of the tide. She is usually helped by a friend or spiritual guide. Allies will lend support or will do something to make amends. There will be an epiphany where she finally understands herself or comes to a big realization about something.

8) Rebirth / Return Threshold / Healing with the Mother or Wounded Masculine

A

The heroine is invigorated and transforms into a better person defeating her enemy. Often she willingly sacrifices herself (or a part of herself) for the good of others. Often the theme is present here.

A

The story comes full circle and the heroine returns home a changed person. She mentors others using her experiences. Resolution with her romantic interest because she has integrated the masculine and the feminine. She may reconnect (positively) with the mother figure here. She’s open for emotional intimacy here.
