How doe elections work?
- a pledge/brother must nominate another pledge or brother- “I nominate [pledge/brother’s name] for [eboard position]”
- a different pledge/ brother must “second the nomination- “second”
- all nominees are listed in order of succession and displayed for everyone to see
- For each position, all nominees are guided out of the room by the SAA
- One-by-one, each nominee will have 3 minutes to give a speech
- after giving a speech, each nominee must answer 3 questions asked by voting members
- after all nominees for a postion have given their speeches and have left the room: (a) if pledges/brothers would like to make a relevant comment on a speech: “Motion to open the floor for discussion.”; “Motion to end the discussion.”
(b) if there is only one nominee and no voting necessary: “Motion to make the nominated the elected.”
(c) : if vote is necessay: “Motion to vote by ballot” - votes are collected and counted (brothers-previous SAA, pledges- PM or APM)
- elected will be displayed for everyone to see
- no clapping/cheering
- repeat steps for next position.
