The great Schism is where Religion was divided in two

Manorialism is when lords form an estate exercise economic and legal power over the peasants who lived in the estate

The lords gave the peasants a estate and food to live, meanwhile peasants provided service

The kings gave the knights a place to live in meanwhile the knights gave the king their loyalty.

The canon laws are a set of laws made by the christian church that was based on religious teachings, and government, and it governed over the aspect of marriage, the behavior of clergy morals, and wills.
What happens to those that don’t obey the canon law?
They received excommunication which is where the person is kicked out of the christian church and it’s sacraments. If a noble were to oppose the church the whole town, region, or kingdom would be prohibited by receiving differ sacraments and Christian burials, which may cause revolts from the people towards the person under the ruler ship; interdict
