Union- first not allowed to fight, later given opportunity
Confederates- could not fight because they were slaves though they did stuff behind the scenes for army with master

Union- keep the states together, Confederates- freedom from states
Why is it that soldiers were more likely to die from infection than injury at battle?
maybe because of the limited health care and not sterile equipment
What does “Lincoln Changed During the War” mean
Witnessing brutality of war, faces his own loss with his son dying, physically aging Lincoln, wants to stop fighting at the beginning- towards the end wants to finish what they started
