questions for ct Flashcards
What post processing techniques are available with CT?
post processing techniques are available with CT:
1) Windowing-adjust grey scale, brightness - window & level
2) 3-D images
List the planes that CT can scan.
Axial, Sagittal, Coronal
List the components of the CT unit.
components of the CT unit:
1) Gantry
2) Aperture
3) Couch or table
4) The computer
5) Operating console
6) Networking and Archiving
List 3 parts of the Gantry.
parts of the Gantry:
1) X-ray Tube
2) Detector Array
3) Collimators
Describe the X-ray Tube of a CT unit.
X-ray Tube of a CT unit is similar to regular x-ray. Constructed to withstand greater heat. Has tube and an array of Detectors, detector is the IR.
What is Contrast Resolution?
Contrast Resolution isthe ability to show soft tissue contrast.
Describe the Collimator of a CT unit.
All the settings of the collimation for CT is set by the Tech., it shapes and limits the beam.
1) Prepatient: at the x-ray tube, determines slice thickness.
2) Postpatient: what happens at the detectors
What are the 2 types of software for a CT unit?
2 types of software for a CT unit:
1) Operating system: manages hardware
2) Applications: pre-processing, image reconstruction, post processing.
List the items that are predetermined for each procedure for CT.
predetermined for each procedure for CT, but can be adjusted if need be:
1) KV
2) MA
3) FOV -Field of vision
4) Slice thickness
5) Table indexing
6) Reconstruction algorithms
7) Display windows
