Questions Flashcards
What is the purpose of the sump at the bottom of a rigid fuel tank?
Space below the stack pipe where water, debris etc. can accumulate and not be fed to the engine
AVGAS is described as a fuel with a low “flash point”. What does “flash point” mean?
The flash point of a volatile liquid is the lowest temperature at which it can vaporise to form an ignitable mixture in air.
How are Passenger Service Unit (PSU) drop-down oxygen stowage doors released?
Electrically for chemical oxygen generators and pneumatically for gaseous systems.
In an accumulator what pressure will be felt in the nitrogen charge?
System Pressure
Corrosive properties of duralumin?
Susceptible to corrosion but not poor resistance to corrosion
Typical pressure range in hydraulic system?
3000-4000psi
How does the cabin pressure controller change from rate control in the climb to isobaric control for the cruise?
Automatically as cruise altitude is reached
Fluid de-icing for a propeller distributes the fluid
Centrifugally through a slinger ring
A bypass valve fitted in an engine fuel feed system
Allows fuel to be drawn to the engine in the event of multiple booster pump failure
The minimum indications for the pressurisation system are
Cabin vertical speed, differential pressure and cabin altitude
How are large aircraft multi plate brake unit rotor discs prevented from warping due to heat
They are made from interlocking segments
A hydraulic reservoir may be pressurised by
Bleed air at around 20psi
A constant pressure type pump…
Will control system working pressure while maintaining a high volume flow
The pressure filter in a hydraulic system…
Is fitted downstream of the pump
