Questions Flashcards

1
Q

What is the concentration of Br− if one mole of MgBr2 is dissolved in one litre of water?

A

Find the number of moles of bromide ions in the solution
1 mole of MgBr2 contains 2 moles of Br-

Divide by the volume
Concentration = 2 moles ÷ 1 litre

Remember the conversion between litres and decimetres
1 litre = 1 dm3

Clean up units
Concentration = 2 moldm-3
