Q3 Flashcards
In what situations does pilot file reports?
Pilot files reports in case of near-miss and an aircraft incident.
What may cause a lack of fuel in flight?
Lack of fuel in flight may case of unestimated headwind, fuel leakage, diverting to an alternate airport or aircraft system failures.
Shall pilot dump fuel before a belly-landing? Why?
Pilot must dump fuel before a belly-landing to reduce aircraft weight and approach speed. So, it is a good way to reduce possibility of fire after touchdown.
How is aircraft operation affected by bird ingestion?
Bird ingestion may lead to engine surge, engine fire, flameout or failure, loss of power and the immediate landing at the nearest airport.
What is the purpose of passenger baggage identification?
In case of missing passenger, we must identify his baggage and disembark this baggage from an aircraft.
Why is special training necessary for transporting dangerous goods?
Special training is necessary for transporting dangerous goods to prevent events with dangerous cargo.
Why do “smoke” and “fumes” mean different for a pilot?
Smoke is a sign of something burning, while fumes are usually not related to fire.
What could be the reasons for airport disrupted operations?
There are a lot of reasons for airport disrupted operation. For example: bad weather condition, military activities, government flights, unlawful interference, airport equipment failure and so on.
What do you do to be healthy?
First of all I haven’t bad habits, try to keep myself in fit, do some exercises, keep a healthy diet. In addition, I try to avoid stressful situations.
What happens if an aircraft is affected by a microburst on final?
Microburst on final can cause of unstable approach, loss of speed, overshoot landing, aircraft overruninig, hard landing or crash.
What type of precipitation might be really dangerous for flight?
In my point of view, Hail, freezing fog, freezing rain or snowstorm might be really dangerous for flight because, for example,
- hail can damage the aircraft or power plant,
- freezing fog or freezing rain can lead to aircraft icing and low visibility.
If the RW is not in sight at a DH what do you do?
If the RW is not in sight at a DH, I have to perform GA procedure without delay.
You are ready for departure but suddenly delayed. What do you say to the passengers?
For example: Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. This is your first officer speaking. Unfortunately, our departure is delayed in 30 minutes due to bad weather conditions. We apologized for the inconvenience. Thank you for understanding.
If there is a hijacking over your aircraft, what do you do?
In case of hijacking, first of all, I have to lock the cockpit door, set sq 7500, advice ATC about situation on board, proceed to the nearest airports and request police upon arrival.
How does endurance depend on rerouting?
Usually, endurance reduces in case of rerouting because aircraft flies a greater distance then calculated distance. But, if we talking about shortcut, aircraft endurance increases.
What are necessary actions to prevent an aircraft from a stall?
It is important to monitor flight parameters during the flight to avoid aircraft stall. And if aircraft speed is closed to stall speed, pilots must accomplish the stall recovery procedure.
What airport situations would ground a lot of aircraft?
There are some situations would ground a lot of aircraft such as natural disasters, airport equipment failure, runway cleaning, bad weather condition and so on.
What actions are required if hydronic pressure has dropped below limit?
If hydraulic pressure has dropped below limit, pilots must accomplish QRH procedure. (Quick reference handbook)
What will you do if the ATC’s message is too complicated?
In this situation, I request ATC to divide his message into parts and speak slower.
How is RW affected by a RW gradient?
If RW gradient is up, the landing roll distance reduces.
If RW gradient is down, the landing roll distance increases.
What airports vehicle are involved in the pre-flight preparation?
There are a lot of airport vehicle that are involved in pre-flight preparation. There are catering machine, fuel tanker, baggage machine, oxygen machine, tug, buses and so on.
What will your actions be in case of a wind shear?
In case of a wind shear I will accomplish the windshear escape maneuver.
What in-flight emergency situations have you experienced?
I have experienced flaps extending failure, asymmetric ground spoilers extension after touchdown and so on.
Have you ever had to make a difficult decision in flight? Can you share?
In my opinion, each destination to proceed to an alternate airport is difficult.
In what cases may a misunderstanding between a controller and a pilot?
A misunderstanding between pilot and ATC may occure due to bad knowledges of English language, accent and so on. Also, it is important to use standard phraseology during the flight to avoid misunderstanding.
