Q

How can pilots manage to land in poor weather conditions?

A

Nowadays, all modern aircraft are equipped with systems that allow to perform landing in most of all cases of poor weather. But, to perform landing in a poor weather condition airport must be equipped with some systems to. Also, for this situations, airports have some special rules. In addition, pilots must be trained on simulator for this condition and must have permission from government.

Q

What measures minimize bird risks?

A

There are a lot of measures to minimize bird risks. There are special ground services that can emit sounds of predators to scare birds away. Before take off and landing pilots should switch on the landing lights to repel the birds. The hunters shoot the birds near the airfield.

Q

Why is a mandatory to avoid a thunderstorm area?

A

It is mandatory to avoid a thunderstorm area because it helps to avoid severe turbulence, lightning strike, icing condition and hail. All of these can lead to terrible consequences such as crash of aircraft. So it is important to use weather radar during the flight.

Q

What flight condition are the most important at decision height? Why so?

A

It is important to establish visual contact with runway or runway lights at or before decision height because continue approach without visual contact is prohibited. If pilots unable to establish visual contact, they must perform go around procedure at decision height without delay.

2) Security service must screen passenger’s baggage.
3) All passengers must go through passport, customs and security control.
4) There are psychologists and sniffer dogs help to detect suspicious passengers and prohibited items in some airports.
5) Also, cockpit door must be closed before boarding of passenger and stay closed during whole the flight.

Q

What ATC traffic separation minima is normally applied to heavy aircraft?

A

ATC traffic separation minima is necessary for preventing the aircraft from entering another aircraft wake. For take off and landing a necessary interval is 3 minutes.

17
Q

How could governments flights affect flight operation?

A

The government flights can cause of departing aircraft delay and the holding of arriving aircraft in holding pattern.

18
Q

Why is there a lot of emergency equipment on board?

A

It is necessary to have a lot of emergency equipment on board because all of these can help “search and rescue services” to search the aircraft as soon as possible and help passengers and crew to stay alive as long as possible after distress.

19
Q

Why is coordination between airport services and a flight crew required?

A

Coordination between airport services and a flight crew is very important and required to perform departure on time.

20
Q

Which airport layout may be complicated for maneuvering?

A

Airport layout may be complicated for maneuvering due to narrow taxiways or runways, slops and hot spots.

21
Q

What are the differences between a APU and a GPU?

A

APU is decoded as Auxiliary Power Unit. APU is part of aircraft which provides electrical power and bleed air for aircraft.
So, GPU is decoded as Ground Power Unit which located on the ground and provides only electrical power for aircraft.

22
Q

Which commands are you to follow in case of conflicting ATC and TCAS instructions? Why?

A

I am to follow the TCAS instructions because this instructions are more accurate. Also, it is prohibited by government’s rules to follow ATC instructions in case of resolution advisory commands from TCAS. Pilots have been following TCAS instructions since disaster happen over Constance lake.

23
Q

They say that twin-engine airplanes are safer then four-engine aircraft. What is your opinion?

A

In my opinion, four-engine aircraft are safer then twin-engine aircraft. For example, in case of engine failure the twin-engine aircraft immediately flies to alternate airport while four-engine aircraft can continue the flight. So, twin-engine aircraft is the future because it provides more benefits for airline companies. Also, modern engines have enough reliability today.

24
Q

What shall pilots report in case of non-standard situations?

A

The pilots should declare urgency or emergency, description of this non-standard situation and intentions.

25
Q

Why is it important that pilots use standard phraseology in most routine situations?

A

It is important that pilots use standard phraseology in most routine situations because it helps to avoid miscommunication and misunderstanding between pilot and ATC during the flight. As the result, using of standard phraseology increases safety level.
