What are six things a good scientific question should have?
- A variable that can be tested
- Have no opinions
- Be examinable through, data collection, research or surveys.
- Come from an observation
- NOT use words like “best”
- NOT be based on an assumption
What cannot be a scientific question? (4)
Preferences,
Moral choices,
Supernatural concepts,
Imaginary concepts
What two things confirm a hypothesis is provable.
It needs to be testable and falsifiable
What does testable mean?
You can make an observation from an investigation
What does falsifiable mean?
It can be proven wrong.
What are results?
These are outcomes you observe during your investigation
What is the conclusion?
An explanation of your results and whether or not they support your hypothesis
What is a variable?
A measurement or observation that changes during an investigation
What is an independent variable?
A factor I change to see what happens during an investigation
What is a dependent variable?
A factor I measure in response to the change I made
What do two variables have if they affect each other?
A relationship
What is the control?
Where no change changes are made
What is a fair test?
Only change one variable at a time
How many times should you repeat an experiment?
