Q

Is Chlamydophila felis zoonotic?

A

While there is evidence that C felis may occasionally cause keratoconjunctivitis in humans, there is little evidence to suggest it can cause serious systemic disease or pneumonia. Not a serious concern although one must always exercise caution and, most importantly, good hygiene and to tell owners to do the same. However, it is worth investigating if any news had been recently published, what the general thoughts are outside of the RVC and if there is any evidence to show beyond doubt it should be considered a zoonotic disease.

Q

What srt of blindness should a lesion in the optic tract create?

A

contralateral medial hemifield blindness and an ipsilateral lateral hemifield lesion (aka homonymous hemianopia). This happens because medial fibers -of the medial retina-, which are responsible for seeing the lateral hemifield, decussate to the other side, and the lateral fibers -of the lateral retina-, which are responsible for seeing the medial hemifield, does not decussate.
