What is an element ?
An element contains only one kind of atom.
What is a Monatomic element ?
An element containing only one atom e.g. the noble gases
What is a simple molecular element ?
An element containing two (diatomic) or more of the same atom chemically bonded together
what is an ionic element ?
There are no ionic elements !
Are there Metallic elements ?
Yes, e.g. everything to the left of the staircase
What are some examples of a giant covalent element ?
Diamond, graphite and silicon which are all allotropes of carbon
what is a compound ?
A compound is 2 or more different atoms bonded together
Monatomic compound
there are no monatomic compounds !
