Quantitative chemistry Flashcards
what’s the equation for the percentage mass of an element in a compound
percentage mass of an element in a compound = ((atomic number x number of atoms of that element) / relative formula mass of the compound) x 100
what is the equation for moles
Number of moles = mass in grams / relative formula mass
Why is the number for Avogadro’s constant so odd
the mass of that many atoms or molecules of any substance is exactly the same number of grams as the relative formula mass
What is Avogadro’s constant?
6.02x10²³
Equation for volume of gas
volume of gas = mass of gas / relative formula mass of gas
equation for number of moles
number of moles = concentration x volume
atom economy
atom economy = (relative formula mass of desired product / relative formula mass) x 100
percentage yield
percentage yield = (mass of product made / maximum theoretical mass of product) x 100
