What is a Statistical quality control?
Term used to describe the tools used by quality professionals to evaluate quality.
Explain the 2 causes of variation(common and assignable)
- Common - causes of variation occur randomly and cannot be avoided causesd due to small variations in process.
- Assignable - causes that can be identified and corrected.
What is the process index Cpk used for?
Cpk helps to address a possible lack of centering of the process.
What is process capability?
the ability of a production process to meet or exceed preset specifications.
What is the 5 step plan for 6 sigma?

What are the 2 different control chart types?
- Attributes - characteristics that have discrete values and can be counted
- Variables - characteristics that can be measured and have continuous scale.
What are the 5 Quality Definitions?
- Conformance of specification
- Fitness for use

- Psychological criteria
When should a control chart and Checklist be used?
- Checklist - is a list of common defects and the number of observed occurrences of these defects
- Control Chart - are used to evaluate whether a process is operating within expectations relative to some measured value
How does quality Management impact other functional areas of the company?
Every aspect of the company must change to support the commitment to total quality maagement.
What are the different costs of quality?
Prevention - Costs of preparing and implementing a quality plan
Appraisal - Costs of testing, evaluating, and inspecting quality
Internal - cost of scrap,rework and material loss
External - cost of failure at customer site, including returns, repairs and recalls.
