What is CQI?
CQI is continous quality improvement: which emphasize the organization, systems, processes w/in the organization rather than individual. It recognize internal customers ( staff) and external customers (clients) and use data to improve processes, recognizing that most processes can be improved.

The core concepts of CQIs are quality and success is meeting or exceeding internal /external customers needs and expectations
Problem related to processes, variations in process lead to variations in results
Change can be incremental

Benchmarking
Statistical process control
Reduction of variation
Application of the Pareto Principle ( vital few rather than trivial many)
PDSA cycle to achieve systems improvement
Systems modification in contrast to personal blame
Use of teams
Focus on meeting customers needs
What are the characteristics of the modern manager?
The characteristics of the modern manager includes:
1.Belief ppl are basically good, trustworthy capable of change
- Appreciate value of diversity in contrast to homogeneity
- Awareness that power shared is power gained
- Creative use of conflict in contrast to avoidance of dissension at all cost
- Risk taking in contrast to risk aversion
- Foster collaboration rather than competition esp among staff who must work together to get the job done.
What does PI and quality tie into?
