Quality System:
Overall structure, policies, processes, procedures and
resources needed to implement quality.
Quality Assurance:
Planned activities that ensure quality requirements are being
fulfilled. QA uses indicators to identify level of quality
(eg turn-around-times, number of unacceptable samples etc)
and goes beyond QC
Quality Control:
Activities that ensure quality of the product. In the lab,
results are our product, so QC ensures reagents, equipment,
procedure (including personnel etc) is working to generate a
quality result.
Policy
Rules and guidelines adopted by the organization that will
drive processes and procedures
Process:
The “big picture” outline that depict the various tasks and
procedures from input to output.
Procedure:
Step by step instructions to complete a particular task
