Q

Note!

A

Verbs that you have learned are listed in their infinitive form. Infinitives in English are easily identified because they begin with “to” and are followed by an action. To swim, to run, to work, to study, to wear are examples of infinitives. Infinitives in French are also easily recognized. The common verbs end in -er, -ir, and -re.

18
Q

Remember!

A

Remember that if a verb starts with a vowel, the “e” in je is dropped and replaced by an apostrophe (‘).

19
Q

Note!

A

The ending of the verbs in French are different depending on who the subject is. In asking and answering a question, we see two forms of a verb in French:

je porte
tu portes

This verb infinitive ends in -er: porter. So, you see that for the tu form, to say “you wear,” you take off the -er and add -es.
