What is “la bise”?
It is a common practice in France. It is kind of like kissing the air nest to the person’s check that your are greeting.
How do people greet people in France?
It is normal for friends of the opposite sex or two woman to kiss one another on the cheek–
la bise. The number of kissed depends on the region–they can vary from one on each cheek to alternating up to four times. Men usually greet each other with a handshake.
How do people greet each other in Canada?
In Québec, typically, people greet each other with hugs and may kiss a person’s cheek after a few encounters.
How do people greet each other in Senegal?
In general, people start by shaking hands when they first meet. Then, the handshake can become more enthusiastic or be accompanied by a pat on the back. This is more common between men. Greetings between men and women or two women are less elaborate.
How do people greet each other in Cambodia?
Cambodian men and women never touch in public, even when greeting each other. Some people in the bigger cities, who have worked with Westerners, will shake hands now. The general greeting, though, is to put your hands together at chest height and bow your head slightly to show respect.
