The safety of the other responders and others at the scene.
This may include injured people or a hidden offender

Providing regular feedback on the way canvas enquires are contributing to the progress of the investigation

- Where and how the exhibits were secured
- When, why and how the exhibit was moved from one place to another

- When why and to whom they transferred custody of any exhibit
Who should be appointed OC body?
Should be an experienced investigator with awareness of forensic issues.
Where this is not practicable the OC body may require additional support and or mentoring
In relation to preserving a scene, what action should police take upon arrival
- Consider best path into scene
- Record any movements / actions taken at the scene
- Preserve what is there and leave in situ
- If no immediate life is at risk consider using stepping plates
- Be prepared to take immediate action to preserve and or record evidence
Who gives authority or approval to move the body?
The body must not be moved without specific authority or approval from the OC
Discuss what information the OC case or OC witnesses can ascertain by maintaining witness contacts
Police are more likely to be aware of any threats, intimidation or interference and can arrange for appropriate action to be taken
What is the first priority of this risk assessment on arrival at a scene
The first priority when conducting a risk assessment at the scene of a serious crime incident is always to ensure the safety of attending police members

Make inquiries to determine the voracity of the alibi
– conduct inquiries as directed by the OC investigation and crown solicitor including the checks on the alibi witness
– forward results of these inquiries to the crown solicitor, including any statements obtained
